Many of the women on these pages are activists out of their spiritual beliefs, or have formed spiritual beliefs as a result of their activism. At Serpentina we want to support not only personal spiritual transformation, but also the “shakti” — the principle of action in society. The wide range of social activism taken on by women world wide attests to their committed involvement in promotion of the well-being of communities, protection of the environment, responsiveness of governmental institutions and establishment of world peace.
